GREENSBORO, N.C. (June 29, 2009) – When a long regular season culminates in a competitive playoff tournament to qualify for a week of educational experiences and games against the best teams in the country, U.S. Soccer Development Academy Technical Advisors and club coaches must ensure they are encouraging and teaching players the best way to take care of their bodies. Not only do athletes learn about the importance of proper nutrition and hydration throughout the season, but players must also incorporate a regeneration process to allow tired muscles to recover properly.

As the No. 3 seed in the Under-17/18 age group, Albertson is looking to capitalize on the experience obtained during the 2008 Development Academy Finals Week and return to The Home Depot Center from July 10-17 for the 2009 Finals Week.

CHICAGO (March 25, 2009) – After an overwhelming response, U.S. Soccer, in conjunction with NIKE and the U.S. Soccer Foundation, has awarded 144 scholarships for Development Academy athletes to participate in the 2008-09 season. The objective of the scholarships is to provide as many opportunities as possible for athletes to participate in the groundbreaking national team training program. Funds will be distributed to each athlete’s club to offset the cost of travel and other expenses related to participating in the Development Academy.
